Syrian, Iranian parliament speakers hold talks in Tehran

TEHRAN -- Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani met with his Syrian counterpart Mahmoud al-Abrash in Tehran on Saturday.

Larijani told Abrash, “Cooperation between Iran and Syria will promote peace and security in the region.”
The two countries must utilize their potential to increase bilateral relations in all spheres, particularly in the economic area, he said.
Larijani also highlighted the importance of increased cooperation between the two states in regional and international organizations, especially the Islamic Interparliamentary Union (IPU), and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).
Abrash, for his part, commented on the issue of Palestine, saying that the two countries must use their potential to stand up against the Zionist regime.
“The Zionist regime is the common enemy of Muslim nations,” he said.
The Syrian parliament speaker also thanked Iran for its role in the establishment of IPU and APA.
